WINTER WONDERLAND We have 23K of private skiing trails for our resort guests. (See our trail map.) Some of our trails are relatively flat, making them perfect for the beginner, and others offer an abundance of hills to challenge the more advanced skier. Take advantage of our new recreation center with game room, seating area, showers, restrooms, and self service laundry. And when you're all worn out from having fun, join us for camaraderie, a bite to eat, and something to drink in our comfortable lodge. If you catch your second wind, you might want to take in an evening of entertainment in nearby Detroit Lakes or Park Rapids, or make a date with "Lady Luck" at the Shooting Star Casino down the road....

WINTER SPORTS

Cross-Country Skiing

We have expanded our RAINBOW TRAILS (TM) cross-country skiing and hiking trails to 13 miles. To learn more about skiing at Rainbow Resort, visit our Cross-Country Skiing Page.

Snowmobiling

Rainbow Resort has always been a favorite destination for snowmobiling, with our resort being located on a network of hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails. Many of the trails are groomed on a weekly basis by the state and various snowmobile clubs.

In part because of our somewhat higher elevation near the headwaters of the Mississippi, we usually have relatively good snow conditions for most of the winter. This past winter we were one of the few areas in the state to have any snow. Our cabins are modern, complete housekeeping cabins and are fully winterized. We have snowmobile supplies including gas, oil, belts, etc. Our lodge is open during the winter and has a short order grill with a scenic overview of the lake.

Other Winter Activities

We also rent snowshoes, ice skates, fish houses, and ski packages. We offer a great sliding hill , skating rink, and snowshoe trails that are separate from our skiing trails.
